FLP delegates from various CPSU campuses and extension classes proudly marched through the iconic Abada Avenue, kicking off the second day of the 18th CPSU-wide FLP Agri Works and Local Convention.
The festivities for the four-day FLP convention are being held at the CPSU Main Campus, starting from April 22-25, 2025.
The second day kicked off with the arrival of the parading delegates accompanied by invigorating drumbeats and music from the CPSU Marching Band, and colors hoisted by the participating delegations.
The FLP Main Campus officials conducted the first plenary session, followed by the opening program which encapsulated the inspirational messages from Dr. Hanzel L. Pedrosa, College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF) Dean, and from Mr. Benjie M. Orot, Secretary to the Municipality of Candoni’s Sangguniang Bayan, as the event’s resource speaker.
“Imagine collaborating with researchers from other countries, exploring global markets, adapting international best practices to our local context, and contributing to Filipino ingenuity to [address] global challenges–which I believe that the university system is also trying to cope with as manifested by the international recognitions that I mentioned a few minutes ago. To continue, the path ahead undoubtedly presents complexities and challenges; navigating through cultural differences, understanding international relations, and building trust across borders require dedication and resilience. However, the potential rewards for your potential growth for our nation and for the world are immense,” said Mr. Orot.
Motivated to respond to the challenge of bringing CPSU’s name to the international limelight, FLP delegates who pumped their fists up the air in unity and declared with conviction, “We are Cenphilians, we are globally ready”.
CPSU officials in attendance namely, Ms. Annalyne Recaña, FLP Main Campus Adviser, Dr. Ervin P. Ferraris, Sipalay Campus Administrator, Ms. Bella D. Supe, Hinagaran Campus Administrator, and Dr. Pedrosa, conferred a certificate to Mr. Orot in recognition of his contribution to event.
Seven candidate pairs vying for the Mr. and Ms. FLP title also stylishly presented themselves during the official sashing ceremony and hyped the crowd for the much-anticipated preliminaries and pageant night.
