Medical-Dental Clinic, NSTP Conduct Bloodletting; Set Next One for December 2018
Sixty seven donors participated in the bloodletting activity conducted by the Medical Dental Office on March 1, 2018 at the CPSU Main Campus.
The activity is in close coordination with the university National Service Training Program (NSTP), which did the campaign for people to donate blood. The NSTP has been conducting a yearly bloodletting since 2010. Whereas, it is the second year for the Medical-Dental Office to do so.
The Office is targeting to conduct bloodletting twice a year with the second one tentatively scheduled for December of this year.
"If you have a donor card, you will have easy access from blood centers in case you need blood. You can get it immediately in case of emergency," Kristine A. Duran, the university nurse said, when asked about the advantage of participating in the bloodletting. The processing fee may also be waived as a privilege if the patient is admitted in a private hospital, according to her. Processing fee is free of charge if the patient is a Philhealth member and admitted in a government hospital.
"It will replenish blood supply, and facilitate growth of new cells too," she added.
The event is also part of the extension service of the university. It was conducted in partnership with the Kabankalan City Health Office, Negros First Provincial Blood Center-Bacolod, and the Barangay Council of Camingawan.
