The Central Philippines State University (CPSU) San Carlos Campus was officially established as part of the universityโs expansion to meet the growing demand for quality higher education in the Southern part of Negros Islan Region. In the heart Barangay Guadalupe of San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, is an extension of CPSU's commitment to providing educational opportunities to the community. The CPSU itself was elevated to a state university through Republic Act No. 10228 on October 19, 2012, in the initiative of Dr. Freddie C. Maningo, CPA and the land donation of Don. Justo V. Valmayor. The San Carlos Campus is strategically located in 5 hectares in the vast of the sweet sugarcane plantation of providing ample space for the construction of academic buildings, research centers, and Student Support Facilities. The campus is known for its sprawling grounds that cater to both the academic and extracurricular needs of its students. CPSU San Carlos offers a diverse range of undergraduate programs designed to meet the educational needs of the region. These programs equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in various industries. Among the degree offerings are Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness, which prepares students for careers in agribusiness management and development; Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management, focusing on hospitality and tourism management; Bachelor of Science in Criminology, which equips students for careers in law enforcement and criminal justice; and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, aimed at producing skilled professionals in the tech industry. Additionally, the campus offers Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) with majors in Science and Mathematics, preparing future educators to make significant contributions to the regionโs educational development. Today, the strengths of CPSU San Carlos are clearly reflected in its strong academic reputation. The campus meets 100% of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) compliance requirements and is ISO accredited. Additionally, it holds Level 2 accreditation from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACUP) for all its program offerings. The campus is also a hub for research, with faculty and students actively engaging in publication and presenting their work at both local and international conferences. Furthermore, CPSU San Carlos is deeply committed to community development through its involvement in the Barangay Information System, aimed at enhancing the local government system in Villahermosa and Canlaon City. Additionally, the campus has pioneered the development of the ERUNT Numeracy App, a technological innovation designed to improve numeracy skills in the Division of San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, addressing a critical educational need in the region. Under the leadership of the Campus Administrator Ken M. Balogo, DIT, CPSU San Carlos was envisioned as a chartered university, a vision that has been significantly supported by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Carlos City. The LGU has played a vital role in the development of the campus, collaborating with the university on various initiatives, including infrastructure improvements for classrooms and providing a yearly cash grant of 1 million pesos to support library resources. This partnership has been crucial in elevating the quality of education at CPSU San Carlos, ensuring that students have access to modern learning facilities and educational tools. The active involvement of the LGU guarantees that the university remains a central force in local development, fostering a symbiotic relationship between education and community progress.
