October 6, 2023 – Central Philippines State University (CPSU) received a prestigious recognition from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) National Office for making it to this year’s WURI and THE rankings along with other PH Universities.
The said acknowledgment was given during the Internationalization Champions of Nations Building and Sustainability (ICONS) Awards 2023 held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Pasay City. It aimed to continuously celebrate the addition of new PHEIs recognized by international ranking bodies. As the highlight of the celebration, the event recognized the high-impact initiatives of the PHEIs towards sustainability, commendable performance in recognized international rankings and ratings, trailblazing efforts to advance internationalization, and valuable contributions to ASEAN’s regional prosperity.
Presenting the award were Hon. J. Prospero E. De Vera, III, Chair of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and Atty. Lily Freida Milla, CHED Director for International Affairs Service.
Dr. Joean Mae G. Escober, CPSU Director for International Affairs, represented the University in the said event. Among the standout achievements that earned CPSU this recognition were its engagements in terms of strengthening global partnerships, along with its highly viable sustainable goals and practices in the community.
Dr. Aladino Moraca, CPSU president, stated that this recognition is a result of the long-term engagements and grassroots programs of the University, alongside environmental protection, agricultural innovation, technology generation, and community immersion that addressed longstanding dilemmas of the rural communities, especially the farmers and women.
“We make sure our actions create practical solutions to the real problems faced by underserved communities on the ground. We facilitate the creation of sustainable livelihood programs for them, while also making them our partners for the promotion and preservation of our environment highlighting on conservation agriculture, among others,” he stated.
Central Philippines State University's celebration of this remarkable achievement is its gift to posterity, a constant reminder of its dedication to creating a better, stable, and more prosperous future for the next generations to come. The university continues to look forward to further collaborations with global partners to promote sustainability on a worldwide scale.
