October 4, 2023 | CPSU Accreditation Center – An opening program was held to mark the start of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc. online evaluation to four (4) programs under the College of Teacher Education (COTED) and three (3) programs under the College of Engineering (COE).
For the COTED, the programs under the Level IV survey include the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED), Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) major in Filipino, BSED major in Mathematics, and BSED Major in Science. Their 5 areas for evaluation are Research, Performance of Graduates, Community Service, International Linkages and Consortia, and Planning Process.
Meanwhile, for the COE, all three of their programs are subjected to Level III survey, such as the BS in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (BSABE), BS in Mechanical Engineering (BSME), and BS in Electrical Engineering (BSEE). Specifically, accreditors are looking into 4 areas which include Instruction, Extension, Licensure Exam and Library.
In the realm of higher education, this accreditation by AACCUP as a recognized accrediting body assesses the institution's quality, performance, and adherence to specific standards and criteria. For CPSU, undergoing this rigorous process is the foundation upon which its engagements and services are being measured thereby establishing its integrity as a higher learning institution. Driven by innovation and technology generation, this is a constant testament to its pursuit for efficient and quality education.
Dr. Aladino Moraca, CPSU president, stated that the accreditation of these programs are highly anticipated as it is also paramount to CPSU’s commitment to excellence, quality, and adherence to rigorous standards ultimately leading to improved outcomes, customer satisfaction, and competitiveness in the global sphere as the institution pushes for internationalization.
Present in the host venue are Dr. Fernando Abello, VP for Academic Affairs, Dr. Grenny Jungco, Quality Assurance Director, Dr. Merfe Hucalinas, COTED dean, Engr. Kris Montinola, COE dean, Mr. Julius Fetiluna, University librarian, Prof. Eleanor Castro, Director for Curriculum, program heads and coordinators, and the local accreditation task force.
The closing program to formally conclude this 3-day event is set on Friday, October 6, 2023.
