August 31, 2023 – In the lens of academic and scientific collaboration, the Central Philippines State University (CPSU) and the Federal University of São Carlos (FUSC), Brazil, formally convened to embark on a transformative journey towards bridging ties in the fields of research, science, technology, culture and higher education development.
Representatives from both parties came together to discuss and outline the key objectives and future initiatives that will propel the said partnership to new heights. The formal ceremony was held at the Accreditation Center, CPSU main campus as a venue to set anticipated targets essential in the crafting of the MOA.
Highlighted in the agreement is the engagement of both parties in the joint development of research programs, training activities and participation in academic exchanges for internships, visits, and other related programs for internationalization. Further the memorandum includes exchanges of technical and cultural information, joint production of publications, and co-organization of academic, scientific, and cultural events, such as conferences, and seminars, among others.
In the said ceremonial signing, FUSC was represented by Prof. Octavio Valsechi, Agro-industrial Technology professor, together with Ms. Melissa Popoff, project analyst, Ms. Ivone Gomes of the Brazilian Embassy, together with Mr. Antonio Junqueira, manager of ABC, and Hon. Cong. Dino Yulo of the 5th district of Negros Occidental, and SRA staff.
Dr. Aladino Moraca, CPSU president, stated that the partnership is a welcome stride in the University’s efforts toward internationalization that is set to encompass a wide spectrum of collaborative ventures.
Cong. Yulo likewise expressed high hopes for the partnership as it holds immense promise for students, researchers, and the broader academic community, setting the stage for groundbreaking discoveries and fostering a vibrant culture of knowledge exchange and innovation.
Also present to witness the event were Dr. Hanzel Pedrosa, CAF dean, Dr. Fernando Abello, VP for Academic Affairs, Dr. Joeann Escober, international affairs director, Dr. Grenny Jungco, quality assurance director, and Dr. Maryvic Pedrosa, production and enterprise development director, among others.
With this partnership between CPSU and FUSC, both institutions are poised to make significant contributions to the advancement of higher education and research, not only in their local communities but also on the global stage.
Furthermore, with the University’s vision of becoming technology-driven, the said partnership is envisioned to create a thriving ecosystem for students through exchange programs, enabling them to gain exposure to diverse academic environments and cultures. This exchange of knowledge and experiences is expected to empower the next generation of global leaders and innovators.
