Driven with the aim of equipping and upskilling students with the necessary preparations for their journey ahead after graduation, the CPSU Office of Student Services and Affairs (OSSA) conducts a Career and Employment Coaching to all graduating students across curricular programs on June 30, 2023 at the Clemente Sports Complex, CPSU, Kabankalan City.
Credible experts respectively shared valuable information on specific topics such as: 1) ‘Understanding the World of Work’ by Maam Elma B. Bachita, MPAG, Kabankalan City PESO Manager; 2) ‘Labor Market Information and Labor Laws’ by Dr. Sharon J. Juance, PESO Manager, Province of Negros Occidental; and 3) ‘Overseas Employment, Anti-Illegal Recruitment, and Anti-Trafficking in Persons by Maam Floramie B. Magbato, Labor and Employment Officer II of the Department of Migrant Workers.
The resource speakers specifically provided the attendees salient ideas that they must be mindful of before they actually venture off into the real world of work. This includes practical and expedient strategies to prepare them as they join the pool of professionals in their chosen career paths. Mostly importantly, the said activity provided the graduating students with information on how to effectively market themselves in response to the varying and highly competitive employment trends and demands in the global job market.
The activity was spearheaded by OSSA-Career and Job Placement Services headed by its Coordinator, Maam Sune S. Quintab, in compliance with CHED Memorandum Order No. 09, Series of 2013 also known as the “Enhanced Policies and Guidelines on Student Affairs and Services.” The realization of the said event was in partnership with the OSSA-Counseling and Guidance Services, Gender and Development (GAD) Program, as well as the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the City of Kabankalan.
