Main Campus - Central Philippines State University celebrated the “Zero-Waste” Month through a two-day campaign and clean-up drive from January 30-31, 2023.
The Supreme Student Government spearheaded the program under the leadership of Hon. Frij Bimbao, the SSG Federated President, with the assistance of the Environment Management Chair, SSG Senator Freelyn Grace Villasan, in partnership with the Office of Student Services and Affairs (OSSA) and Office of the Environmental Management Services (EMS).
With this year's theme, "Moving Towards a Sustainable and Clean Future," Cenphilians join the country to celebrate National Zero Waste Month that aims spread environmental awareness and promote zero waste practices in the campus, involving all the university's stakeholders.
The two-day event featured the creation of a Recycled Trash Bin which was participated by representatives from various colleges/departments. A Zero Waste Symposium was also conducted with For. Dominic Billen, the Environmental Management Services Director and the resource speaker. It was attended by six (6) chosen representatives from each college. The campus-wide clean-up drive highlighted the events' celebration.
The activity aimed to instill in every Cenphilian the importance of reducing generated waste and practicing environmental consciousness. It is a unifying step towards the realization of humanity's obligations to care about our world's ecological milieu.
Being stewards of environment protection and preservation, CPSU truly upholds sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle and practices through the collective effort of all stakeholders of the institution making it part of its core values and culture as Cenphilians.
