Central Philippines State University (CPSU) was awarded by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) Inc. as top three among the State Colleges and Universities (SUCs) in the Philippines with the highest number of Level I accredited programs.
The said award was received by the University VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Fernando Abello and the Quality Assurance Director Dr. Grenny Jungco via Zoom teleconferencing during the agency’s 34th annual national conference and 1st virtual national conference held last March 10-12, 2021.
With a total of 13 level I accredited programs out of the 50 programs offered by CPSU across its 10 campuses, the said award validates the quality of the educational standards maintained by the University as it works its way towards achieving academic excellence through its outstanding dedication and commitment to quality education.
Dr. Abello stated that achieving such distinction is an honor for the University. He particularly emphasized that this recognition further fuels the University’s goal to develop a culture of quality by devising mechanisms to improve its current programs.
“It manifests that our programs are quality assured based on the standards set by AACCUP, CHED and other evaluating bodies. We strive for quality education, and this distinction seals all our efforts since our programs are already properly recognized and accredited,” Dr. Abello said.
He further added that the institution strives to ensure that its programs are aligned to the requirements of the UNIFAST that provides free tertiary education to its students dubbed as ‘scholars ng bayan.’
Dr. Jungco, the Quality Assurance Director who facilitates all the program accreditations and evaluations of the institution together with the Office of the Vice-President for Academic Affairs, expressed his commendation to the hard work of all the local task force across all campuses who are contributory to this success.
“Success can be easily attained if everybody is doing their part. The award that CPSU received is the fruit of the collaborative efforts of the Cenphilians. As we give quality services to our clienteles following the standards set by CHED and other accrediting agencies with clean and pure hearts, it is certain that we will receive rewards in heaven. Let us continue doing our share not only for the awards, but for a better CPSU,” Dr. Jungco stated.
It could be noted that the University has already attained AACCUP level III accreditation in some of its degree programs like the BEED and BSED in the main campus, while the Bachelor in Sugar Technology (BST) and BS Statistics had just undergone evaluation for their level III status. Other programs are in Level II status such as BS in Agriculture, BS in Animal Science, BS in Forestry, AB in English Language, AB major in Social Science, BS in Hospitality Management, BS in Information Technology, BS in Criminology, BS in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, BS in Mechanical Engineering, and BS in Electrical Engineering in the Main Campus. Meanwhile most of the programs in the Extension campuses are in Level I status.
AACCUP is one of the four accrediting agencies in the country which is concerned with the accreditation of curricular programs, particularly for state universities and colleges whose core function is to develop a mechanism of, and conduct the evaluation of programs and institutions.
Hence, this award is a testimony of CPSU’s sincere commitment to attain sustainable, quality education to its underserved students in the community as part of its integral role of breaking the chains of poverty and bridging the dreams of the marginalized families and farmers to reality for a brighter future ahead.
