To improve its comfort and suitability for students, the Central Philippines State University Gymnasium, once a venue for sports and various cultural events is now under renovation to become a dynamic space that transcends its original purpose.
Universityโs Project Management and Monitoring Office hosted the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Clemente Sports Complexโs Rehabilitation last April 4, 2024 while Rev. Fr. Ritchie A. Villaflor led the blessing of the area for gymnasiumโs rehabilitation as well as the construction workers who will be working on the project.
โThe idea of making this project comes to reality partly because of the pandemic. Instead of utilizing the money for other projects, it would be better if it were for the students. As you can see, in the span of less than six months, the majority of the project as desired by our president is intended for the students. You can see the ongoing construction of the Student Hub and a month ago we also had a groundbreaking of our Covered Court and now comes the rehabilitation of our gymnasium. The target is within six months this project will be completed making the gymโs capacity bigger, more comfortable, and better as the facilities will be improved for the studentsโ satisfaction. The accomplishments of our students will not happen without the support from the administration by providing better facilities. With this, we are hoping that everyone will treasure the gymnasium, love it once the rehabilitation is done, and be responsible for taking good care of our facilities. We look forward to the better CPSU and always take note, taga-CPSU โko and Iโm proud to be,โ said Vice President for Finance and Administration Dr. Marc Alexei Caesar B. Badajos in his message.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Dr. Badajos with the selected CPSU key officials and was witnessed by several office heads, faculty, staff, and students.
โOn behalf of the Office of Students Services and Affairs, for us this is a wish come true. In a few months, we will be witnessing the evolution and the flourishing of the gymnasium which started way back in 1946. Now we are praying that the new plan will be much better, and much more comfortable, and everyone who enters the gym will be happy with our university events, like monthly convocation, graduation, recognition, foundation anniversary, alumni gathering, and all others.โ said Dr. Pilipinas Ma. D. Jareรฑo, Dean of the Office of Student Services and Affairs.
To better serve all stakeholders, especially the studentsโthe university administration is currently undertaking several construction projects on the main campus and its extension campuses.
โWe are all happy that soon there will rise a structure and this is primarily for all of us, specifically for the students. We will be witnessing from time to time the rise of structures, not only on the main campus but all over the other campuses. This is one of the proofs that the university cannot be stopped in developing and this is leading to excellence as targeted by the administration. This is proof that as a university we are continuously evolving.โ said Dr. Moody S. Deocares, Director for Physical, Plant, and Facilities/General Services.
The surrounding area of the Clemente Sports Complex will be closed for the next six months for its rehabilitation and everyone is looking forward to its reopening with better amenities
