Central Philippines State University (CPSU is one with the goal of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in realizing its advocacies especially in the midst of the pandemic. This was made evident in the recently-concluded ‘Padyak’ bicycling event it organized last November 23, 2021 held at the Municipality of Murcia, Negros Occidental with the theme, “Padyak para sa Ikaayong Lawas kag Libre nga Edukasyon: A School-Based Vaccination Campaign and the Implementation of the Tertiary Education Subsidy Program in Western Visayas”. The team was headed by Dr. Michael Bacolod, Murcia extension class coordinator, and Sir Ken Balogo, faculty of CPSU San Carlos campus.
Joining the CPSU cyclists were the pedalers from the Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (CHMSC), and the University of Negros Occidental - Recoletos (UNO-R) headed by Fr. Jose Alden Alipin, OAR, VP for Academics and Fr. Amadeo Lucero, OAR, VP for Student Welfare, and Chairman of Team UNO-R Ram Bikers, giving it a total of 30 bikers in all who trailed from the CPSU Murcia extension class site to Cansilayan going to Abuanan, Sum-ag, Handumanan and finally ending their route at UNO-R campus in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental for a total of almost 60 kilometers ride.
The said event aims to celebrate the successes of tertiary education in the country especially in surmounting the challenges faced amid the pandemic, as well as the promotion and strengthening of the “Padyak Edukampyon” program to claim victory for free higher education in the whole Philippines.
This likewise manifested support on the campaign of the Commission on the vaccination of college students as it prepares for the much-anticipated reopening of schools and welcoming back its students in the months to come.
Also present to affirm support in the said event were CPSU president, Dr. Aladino Moraca, VP for Academic Affairs, Dr. Fernando Abello, VP for Research and Extension, Dr. Mae Flor Posadas, along with the CPSU extension campus administrators, deans, directors, faculty and staff.
