527 job applicants joined the Job Fair 2024 organized by Kabankalan City's Public Employment Service Office in cooperation with the Central Philippines State University today, October 4.
Held at the Kabankalan City Sports and Cultural Center, the fair aims to boost employment among Negrenses, especially within Negros Occidental’s 6th District, which encompasses the cities and municipalities of Candoni, Hinobaan, Ilog, Cauayan, Kabankalan, and Sipalay (CHICKS).
CPSU’s Peer Support Organization actively aided in the activity, the activity being instrumental in addressing local unemployment with the theme “Connecting Talent with Tomorrow: Career and Opportunities.”
As of 1:00 pm, there are 82 applicants hired on-the-spot by different private entities from 23 participating companies. Kabankalan City Mayor, Hon. Benjie Miranda, City Administrator, Atty. McLord Zafra, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Representative, Sir Ronnie Pineda, and Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Representative, Ma’am Flora Mae Mambato, gave meaningful messages to the job hopefuls who joined the event.
To emotionally and psychologically support the applicants, CPSU’s University Psychometrician and Guidance Services Head, Mr. Jirec A. Bacongco, and Psychometrician/Guidance Advocate, Ms. Leody May T. Villacarlos, also imparted useful and relevant tips on how to navigate their way through the job-seeking journey.
