Emotions surged and surfaced as Central Philippines State University-Murcia Extension Class (CPSU-MEC) celebrated its Baccalaureate Mass on the morning of June 20, 2025โthe avenue became a catch-basin of tears embedded with joy, pride, and sadness from students, parents, guardians, and faculty.
The 1st Commencement Exercises of CPSU-MEC highlighted the completion of its pioneer batch of graduandsโ higher education journey and the turning of pages as the students step into a new chapter of their lives with their diplomas in hand.
Representing the University President, Dr. Aladino C. Moraca, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Grenny I. Jungco, confirmed 67 graduands as graduates for Academic Year 2024-2025, presented by the CPSU-MEC Coordinator, Dr. Joe-an Mae G. Escober.
Alongside Dr. Jungco, Board Secretary V and University Mace Bearer Maโam Nelly N. Cabual, and members of the CPSU Administrative and Academic Council, namely, CPSU Extension and Community Services Office Director Dr. Jimmy O. Degillo, Office of Student Services and Affairs Dean Dr. Aubrey Ginelle P. Rallos, OIC of the Office of the Registrar Ms. Elysa Jane S. Arlos, Public Information Office Head Dr. Freia L. Vargas, and Human Resource Management Office OIC Ms. Shenna Mae Z. Tanilo, attended the intimate and solemn ceremony held at the Mambukal Convention Hotel, Mambukal Mountain Resort.
With their class valedictorian, Summa Cum Laude distinction recipient, Ms. Maricel M. Aligato, at the forefront, 39 Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness (BSAB) and 28 Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) graduands solemnly marched with their parents, guardians, and loved onesโsharing the joy from their hard-fought baccalaureate milestone.
โTo my God, thank you for your grace. Every step Iโve taken, every battle Iโve overcome, and every door that opened, I know it was never just my strength; it was you all alongโฆAll glory, all praises, and all honor belong to you, now and always. The victory is Yours. To the Class of 2025, as we close this chapter, may we carry with us not just the lessons learned but the strength we found in each struggle and the love that held us together. This is not the end. It is the powerful beginning of everything we once only dreamed of and are now ready to believe. Congratulations! โ said Ms. Aligato in her commencement address.
1 Summa Cum Laude, 4 Magna Cum Laude, and 6 Cum Laude academic honors were conferred to outstanding graduates of the BSAB and the BSIT programs.
Mr. Clark N. Melendres, Senior Agriculturist and Officer-in-Charge Division Chief of the Department of Agriculture RFO VIโs Agricultural Cooperative Enterprise Development Division, and Licensure Examination for Agriculturists Topnotcher (Top 2), shared his Cenphilian testimony, employment-seeking experiences, and valuable life lessons and said, โInvest in yourself every day, for success does not stop at achievement, and success does not stop at graduation. But it continues through consistent self-improvement and the commitment to keep on getting better. Lastly, define your own success, not by othersโ standards but by what truly matters to you.โ
Tokens of recognition were also conferred to graduates with commendable co-curricular performances.
Murcia Municipal Mayor, Hon. Victor Gerardo M. Rojas also expressed his warm words of felicitations for the graduates and their loved ones in attendance and expressed his hopes for the CPSU-MEC in the municipality of Murcia.
Graduates sang Gerald Magbanuaโs โWe Will Riseโ as their graduation song, singing the lines, โWe started small, now we stand tall. Through every trial, we gave our all,โ which epitomized the roots of the CPSU-MEC and its pioneering batch of graduates.
Over the past four years, CPSU-MEC has served Filipinos who were challenge-stricken by the restrictions imposed by COVID-19 mitigation measures and welcomed underprivileged and deserving students within its temporary walls, building a tight-knit community with students and parents who long for accessible yet quality higher education.
Led by the officiating priest, Rev. Fr. Rosmon Miguel Angelo Valenciano, held at the Don Bosco Shrine, Murcia, the Baccalaureate Mass took an emotional turn as stakeholders shed tears, shared hugs, and exchanged smiles as they reached a new beginning outside the premises of their Cenphilian home.
