  • Investiture of CPSU President

The Central Philippine State University community held the investiture of Dr. Aladino C. Moraca as second president of the university at the CPSU Clemente Sports Complex on October 18, 2018.

Commission on Higher Education Chairperson J. Prospero E. De Vera, III presided the investiture rites of Dr. Aladino C. Moraca.  Dr. Moraca succeeded Dr. Freddie C. Maningo, who became the first president of CPSU when the then Negros State College of Agriculture was converted into a university in 2012.

Attending the investiture are 6th District Congresswoman Mercedes K. Alvarez, Iloilo Science and Technology University President Dr. Raul F. Muyong, CHED Chief Administrative Officer  Edilberto J. Orillos, AACCUP President Dr. Manuel T. Corpus, the Head of the Negros Occidental Economic Enterprise Development Department, Atty. Japhet T. Masculino, and RU Foundry President Ramon C. Uy, Sr.

The CPSU Board of Regents (BOR) voted for Dr. Aladino C. Moraca as new president at a Special Board Meeting on August 15, 2018 at the CHED Central Office in Diliman, Quezon City.   Dr. Moraca took an oath of office in the presence of the BOR on the same day.  This was after the BOR officially announced its search for a new president in March 2018.

Dr. Moraca, an alumnus of the institution when it was still Negros Occidental Agriclutural College, said during his investiture speech, that he hopes to steer CPSU as "one of the leading University on agriculture and allied technologies by 2030 and center of development and excellence in 2022."

Sir Nonoy, as he wants to be called, graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Agribusiness in 1990. In 2017, he earned his doctorate degree in Technology Management from Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology (NONESCOST). His work as an agriculturist also turned him into a researcher, a project consultant, an extension leader, an international resource speaker, and a writer of scientific articles, among others. He served as the Executive Director of the Ecological and Agricultural Development Foundation, Inc. from 2008 until 2017 when he decided to transfer to CPSU to serve his alma mater as an instructor and as president in 2018.
