Kabankalan City’s Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) organized a Fire Prevention Month seminar for all classroom officers and College of Engineering students of Central Philippines State University-Main Campus at the campus covered court.
In cooperation with CPSU’s Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRM) headed by office director, Dr. Alejandro E. Nalagon, the activity encompassed diverse lectures about the BFP, its responsibilities, the fire tetrahedron, classes of fire, method of extinguishment, and fire safety tips.
During the activity that was held last April 2, 2025, the students actively participated in a forum dedicated to answering fire-prevention and disaster-response related questions posed by the attendees themselves.
The BFP personnel set up a firefighting training exercise in CPSU Main Campus field with the CPSU Fire Brigade Organization (FIBO), Comrades, CPSU Red Cross Youth Volunteers who extended their assistance for the activity.
The aspirants of the BFP’s newly formed CPSU Fire Brigade Organization (FIBO) also took their oaths during the seminar and expressed their willingness to share in the FIBO’s dedication to address the community’s fire prevention needs, being led by their FIBO adviser, BFP’s FO2 Emmanuel John.
FO2 Minayo who is also the BFP Community Relations Unit Chief, shared valuable insights as the activity resource speaker and elaborated invaluable tips in managing fire emergencies, safeguarding communities, and promoting fire safety awareness.
FO2 Minayo stressed “Every second counts” as an important thought in disaster response and shared the BFP’s commitment to saving lives and properties, to prevent and suppress destructive fires, and to respond to man-made and natural disasters and other emergencies as mentioned in the agency’s mission.
Believing that fire drills go beyond being simple activities, the CPSU DRRMO perceives regular fire drills and emergency response lectures as essential in promoting awareness and preparedness in the community and in improving student response among Cenphilians during emergencies.
