To equip the third-year students with the knowledge and skills needed for their final collegiate year and beyond their university journey, the Student's Admission and Facilitative Enhancement (SAFE) Center held the “Navigating the Next Chapter – Your Guide to Senior Success!" training.
Held on February 13 at Central Philippines State University’s (CPSU) Main Campus covered court, the activity was conducted in four consecutive sessions to accommodate the third years from seven (7) colleges.
Guidance counselors and designates from various campuses of the university, namely: Mr. Jecar D. Tio, Mr. Joseph Cris D. Jao, Mrs. Gladys L. Alipo-on, and Ms. Dianne H. Felomira, enriched the event as they provided meaningful inputs to the audience in their respective sessions in the morning and afternoon of the said date.
The resource speakers highlighted the development of one’s emotional intelligence not only in succeeding in one’s academic endeavors but also in building their future career and emphasized building resilience and adaptability to overcome intangible hurdles in the mind and heart.
The Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Fernando D. Abello, was also present at the event—his presence meaningfully encouraged students to take care of their emotional and mental health, especially with the diverse challenges that they are facing in and out of the classroom.
Following Ms. Leody Mae T. Villacarlos' warm welcome to the participants, Dr. Jirec A. Bacongco elaborated on the significance of the event as an instrument by the university to assist students through the mountains and valleys of their academic journey.
The Peer Support Organization (PeSO) also helped in facilitating the event with the SAFE Center.
During the event, laughter and giggles also resounded in the venue as students hopped in the “Apple, Orange, and Banana” icebreaker—a figurative reminder that life may give lemons, but there can be other fruits waiting to be noticed, and to be thankful and be joyful for.
