Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary, Dr. RENATO U. SOLIDUM, JR., and DOST Regional Office No. VI Director, Engr. Rowen R. Gelonga graced Central Philippines State University-Main Campus with their presence this morning, February 7, 2025.
CPSU President, Dr. Aladino C. Moraca, presented “Smart Agriculture” as the university’s most forefront response to the agendum of developing more innovative projects—conceived through the steadfast efforts of CPSU in solidifying organic agriculture as a mainstay in the agricultural practices of the institution and its partner farmer associations.
Additionally, Dr. Moraca emphasized how Smart Agriculture “smartly” targets the establishment and improvement of agricultural production centered on unique produce, which could be flagship food products to cement Negros as an agricultural household name.
To add, he also highlighted how these identified unique and in-demand food products will be grown using green and sustainable yet community and household-replicable technologies to enkindle innovation in the newly unified provinces under one region.
With championing innovation and advancement as a common denominator, Dr. Riza Stephanie A. Alfaras, Dean of the Graduate School, and Sheila Ignacio, Dean of the College of Hospitality Management, also took part in the event involving the graduate school and COHM in the future initiatives between CPSU and DOST in materializing life-changing technologies for the benefit of Negrense communities.
The university’s Production and Enterprise Development Office (PEDO) Director, Dr. Maryvic P. Pedrosa, also attended the event to support the initiative—PEDO being instrumental in facilitating technology-sharing programs of CPSU with partner farmer associations.
The discussion also included the creation of land-use development plans, to which CPSU responded by its practice of guiding and working hand-in-hand with the community in navigating through changes in the Philippine landscape to prevent conflict and promote harmony between the community and the academe.
