Central Philippines State University’s 78th Foundation Week 2024 officially commenced as the university’s Vice President for Administration and Finance, Dr. Mark Alexei Caesar B. Badajos, declared the opening of the festivities today, September 30, 2024.
Inspired by Foundation Week 2024's theme "Celebrating Legacy, Shaping Futures: 78 Years of Excellence and Innovation," twelve (12) competing units from ten CPSU campuses and one (1) extension class assembled and will be competing for the overall victor’s trophy from September 30 to October 4, 2024.
National State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (1SCUAA) 2012 Men’s Basketball Silver Medalist, Mr. Domenic D. Salvallon, led the symbolic torchlighting with outstanding student-athletes; Regional SCUAA Volleyball Bronze Medalist, June D. Layao; and University Sports Director, Dr. Michael B. Bacolod, respectively, led the athlete’s Oath of Amateurism and the Oath of Technical/Officiating Officials.
“As we celebrate this significant milestone, let us reaffirm our commitment to excellence. I encourage each of you to participate with enthusiasm to compete with honor and to celebrate with joy. Let us honor the past, cherish the present, and look forward with hope and vision of the bright future ahead of us,” said the event’s keynote speaker and CPSU Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) major in Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health (MAPEH) alumni, Jail Officer 1, Mark Peter M. Soreño.
The campus administrators, college deans, and sports and cultural coordinators of the participating campuses gripped ropes and pulled their unit banners high in the flag-raising ceremony.
“Always be guided that these games and events are not purely for competition, but we want to remind the participants of the spirit of true sportsmanship and respect. Let us manifest our intentions through fair play in joining this program because, after all, we belong to one strong community that is united with a common vision, mission, and objectives,“ imparted Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Fernando D. Abello, in his opening remarks.
1211 Physical Activities Toward Health and Fitness 1 and 3 students colored the CPSU Sports Field with vibrant pastel and neon colors as they danced to set the energy and mood high for the five-day festivity.
The university’s faculty and staff clad in their sports outfits also actively showed their warm support and oneness as they joined the grand opening parade with the unit delegates.
Indoor and outdoor sports and cultural events are expected to simultaneously take place in various Main Campus Venues as facilitated by the Director for Kinetics, Sports, and Cultural Development (KSCD), Ma’am Rachel T. Robles, and the Dean of the Office of Student Services and Affairs (OSSA), Dr. Aubrey Jinelle P. Rallos, and Dr. Michael M. Bacolod.
