121 pre-service teachers received their pins during the College of Teacher Educationโs (COTED) 6th Pinning Ceremony, Tribute to Parents, and Candle Lighting held last February 29, 2024 at Zaycoland Hotel and Resort in Kabankalan City.
Central Philippines State Universityโs (CPSU) COTED hosted the event to formally acknowledge the eligibility of the pre-service teachers to be deployed for their mandatory internship and to acknowledge their parents and guardians for supporting them in their collegiate efforts.
Himamaylan City Schools Division Superintendent Maโam Gladys Amylaine D. Sales CESO V gave her inspirational message for the pre-service teachers which made the event themed โUpholding Educatorโs Vision and Cultivating Ethical Standards: Response to a Better Educationโ more worthwhile and memorable for the aspiring educators.
โAs John Dewey eloquently stated โEducation is not preparation for life but it is life itselfโ. That is why we keep teaching ourselves every day. Even if you are already teachers as youโll eventually become professional teachers, it doesnโt mean that you will stop learning. It is a given that you will learn more because the greatest responsibility for you is to teach yourself more each day. After all, changes in todayโs time occur so fast, especially with the developments in technology and research being done during the information age. So you need to teach yourselves because you are responsible for teaching the children,โ expressed Maโam Sales in her message.
CPSU Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Dr. Fernando D. Abello, Quality Assurance (QA) Director Dr. Grenny L. Jungco, and Office of Student Services and Affairs (OSSA) Dean Dr. Pilipinas Ma. D. Jareรฑo also attended the event.
โFirstly, I would like to thank your parents for their support and for entrusting Central Philippines State University with your tertiary education. Secondly, I want to challenge you, future educators, to continue your studies with great diligence so you can finish your program decorated with excellence. I am sure that you know that teaching as a profession requires your commitment, a commitment so great that youโre bound to make sacrifices to ensure that the generations who will be entrusted to you will be able to live out our motherlandโs hope for them to be the hope of the nation indeed. Make use of your time in your internship program well. I and the College of Teacher Education are behind you, pre-service teachers. Mabuhay!โ Dr. Fernando D. Abello.
