Central Philippines State University placed 5th among 17 participating schools in the 13th National Forestry Olympiad held at the University of the Philippines Los Baños on February 18 to 22, 2019.

Representing the university in the event are fourth year students taking up Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the main campus: Kimberly Lacson, Michael Antinero, Reynaldo Tababa Jr. With them is their coach Dominic L. Billen. The participants competed in surveying, mensuration, taxonomy, identification of tree diseases, seed identification, and wood identification as well as a quiz on forestry and the environment.
The National Forestry Olympiad is a biennial event held at the UPLB College of Forestry and Natural Resources in Los Baños, Laguna. This year’s theme is “Conservation of Forests for Sustainable Ecosystem Services.”
The participating schools are: Abra State Institute of Science and Technology, Aklan State University, Apayao State College, Aurora State College of Technology, Benguet State University, Caraga State University, Central Mindanao University, Central Phlippines State University, Isabela State University, Kalinga State University, Mariano Marcos State University, Mindanao State University, Mt. Province State Polytechnic College, Nueva Vizcaya State University, Southern Luzon State University, University of the Philippines Los Baños, Visayas State University and Western Mindanao State University.
The National Forestry Olympiad was launched in 1994. It was first conceptualized in the 1980s when UP Los Baños' UP Zeta Beta Rho Honor Fraternity and the UP Mussaenda Honor Sorority thought of expanding the Future Forester's Day held annually by the UPLB College of Forestry.
