The Mental Health and Wellness Program made a successful comeback at Central Philippines State University yesterday, March 6, 2025, and was received with enthusiasm by university employees.
The Main Campus’ academic and administrative personnel, wearing their fitness apparel and athletic wear, convened in the campus covered court for the relaunching program.
Scheduled from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, the two-hour Mental Health and Wellness Program will be held every Thursday in all CPSU campuses, dedicated to CPSU personnel’s holistic wellness.
Employees grooved to the beat of hype-inducing music during a Zumba dance session led by CPSU students, perspiration dropping as energy overflowed in the venue.
To appeal to and accommodate the personal preferences of the personnel, the program also included various individual and team sports activities to encourage socialization, enhance team synergy, and reduce stress levels.
Ms. Sheena Mae Z. Tanilon, Human Resource Officer II, with the support of Mr. Vicente M. Trio, Jr., Supervising Administrative Officer (SAO) for Administration and Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) Designated Head, spearheaded the reimplementation of the program aimed at breaking the monotonous work routines in the institution and encouraging a healthier work environment.
In her keynote message, Ms. Tanilon discussed the significance of mental health care in the overall well-being of an individual, encouraging attendees to be intentional in engaging in activities that alleviate the effects of work-induced stress and aid in optimizing their mental health.
The newly established Non-Teaching Personnel Organization (NTPO), headed by NTPO President Mr. Charlie Magne O. Coronel, collectively expressed its support for the relaunching of the program and the future organization of activities under it, directed at the spiritual formation and wellness of the university personnel—having faith in the long-term benefits of the two-hour break for recreational and meditative endeavors and the realization of a healthier and happier CPSU.
The cheers and laughter from the simultaneous activities seemingly inspired students to join the fun in the field as they spontaneously and voluntarily played basketball, frisbee, and other sports—desirable by-products of the academic and administrative personnel being exemplars of holistic wellness.
Prior the event, the institution’s Resolution No. 41, Series of 2017 sparked the implementation of the Mental Health and Wellness Program; however, restrictions observed to address the COVID global health emergency and other concerns caused its suspension.
