The City of Kabankalan’s Bureau of Fire Protection trained Central Philippines State University personnel and students during the Fire Brigade Organization and Training held on October 28-29, 2024.
Students alongside teaching and non-teaching personnel underwent rigorous physical training and comprehensive lectures in the activity conducted by the BFP under their Oplan Ligtas na Paaralan (OLP) or the Safe School Initiative (SSI) campaign.
The Kabankalan BFP trainers, headed by the Acting City Fire Marshal, SFO3 Restito C. Salon, BFP, conducted the training in cooperation with the University’s Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) office led by Dr. Alejandro E. Nalagon.
Despite the random downpours and the cold winds blowing from time to time, CPSU personnel and students were up to the challenge as they crawled through streams and patiently listened to the lectures.
The first training day included completing lectures and modules on the Concept of Fire, Firefighting Tools and Equipment, Fire Operation Strategy, and School Emergency Response Team.
Trainees were also equipped with basic firefighting skills through adrenaline-pumping team exercises like bucket relay, hose throwing, and hose rolls and folds, and were also taught various lifting and carrying techniques.
The first day ended and the second day started with physical conditioning orientation and exercises, succeeded by more simulation exercises or field training exercises.
The successful end of the ceremony was marked by an acquaintance party, following the closing ceremony where certificates were conferred to trainees who completed the two-day endeavor.
