Cenphilians excel at 15th National Food Showdown
College of Hospitality Management (CHM) students clinched awards during the 8th Sabor Bisaya, 2nd MassKanamit, and 15th National Food Showdown at SMX Convention Centre, SM Bacolod.
Bengie Sumagaysay and Carlo Garcenila won a bronze medal in the Vegetable Kitchen Category while Mel Roa received the Diploma Award in the Regional Fruit Jam Category, coached by CHM faculty, Mr. Roland A. Celis and Mr. Raffy D. Gabayoyo, respectively.
Catherine Rodriguez and Ana Clea Satona, coached by Ma'am Sheila A. Ignacio, also raised the banner of the University as they participated in the Floral Centerpiece Category.
Eighteen academic institutions from the provinces of Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental competed in various competition categories like mocktail mixing and flairtending, table setting, floral centerpiece and fruit carving.
Held last October 15-17, the 8th Sabor Bisaya and the 2nd Mayor Albee MassKanamit Culinary Showdown themed “Kusina Filipina: Keep the Momentum…Full Speed Ahead!” was organized by the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Negros Occidental (HRANO), the City Government of Bacolod, the Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Philippines - Negros Island Siquijor Chapter (COHREP-NISC), and supervised by the National Food Showdown.
