The Department of Science and Technology, Central Philippines State University, and cooperating agencies officially donated three IT educational packages to beneficiaries from Negros Occidental Districts 1, 2, and 3.
Three IT educational packages, each including four sets of desktop computers, a desktop computer with STARBOOKS, and one VISSER Kit, were delivered to three learning institutions, from the said districts on May 16-17, 2024.
Escalante City’s Floro T. Bongco Farm School, Sagay City’s Bulanon Farm School, and Talisay City’s Rafael B. Lacson Memorial High School received the packages.
The initiative is part of the Pandayan ng Bayan Project funded by the DOST - Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) with counterparts from the implementing agency, CPSU and cooperating agencies namely RU Foundry & Machine Shop Corporation, Technological University of the Philippines-Visayas, Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU), Philippine Normal University – Visayas (PNUV), and State University of Northern Negros (SUNN).
Under the leadership and direction of CPSU President Dr. Aladino C. Moraca, Project Leader Dr. Maryvic P. Pedrosa led the CPSU team composed of members from the university’s Production and Enterprise Development Office and the College of Agriculture and Forestry faculty, to facilitate the turnover of the donations to their respective recipients.
The Pandayan ng Bayan project generally aims to empower communities by providing educational institutions and farmers associations with access to technology that will enable them to innovate and craft more technology for long term community resilience and self-sufficiency.
