Record Custodians from various administration offices, colleges, and campuses of Central Philippines State University attended the Seminar on Records Management and Freedom of Information (FOI) Orientation last February 1 and 2, 2024.
The affair was organized by the universityโs Records Office headed by Records Officer III Jane T. Toledo, MPA, and the Records and Management Improvement Committee (RMIC) under the chairmanship of Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Henry C. Bolinas.
The two-day event was held from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on both dates at CPSU Main Campus Accreditation Hall, to maintain existing commendable practices, improve the university's operations with competent records management, and streamline transparency.
Records custodians of the Main Campusโ administration offices were the attendees of the eventโs first day while records custodians from various colleges from CPSU Main Campus and external campuses were the attendees for the second day.
The opening salvo marked the program's start and was succeeded by the opening remarks of the Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA) Dr. Marc Alexei Caesar B. Badajos.
โI would like to commend Maโam Toledo and the Records Office for their exemplary operation which CPSU has benefited from and I am encouraging all of you to make them your exemplars in your duties. I would like to reiterate that your roles as records custodians of your respective offices are very vital. If you perform well, you make our lives in the workplace easier, and our decision-making faster. Make sure that the records are safe. I salute all of you for keeping our records diligently,โ said VPFA Dr. Badajos.
Orientations on various topics were also given during the morning sessionsโon History and Overview of CPSU Records Office by Maโam Toledo, Documented Information by Maโam Toledo, and Handling Incoming and Outgoing Communication and Mails by Maโam Welnie V. Bantigue.
R.A. 9470 or the National Archives Act of the Philippines of 2007 was discussed by RMIC members Dr. Lycel Pacheco and Dr. Mary Ann S. Dagunan on January 1st and 2nd respectively.
โGod has put each of you in that position right now. Do everything that you deem necessary to help CPSU. If you have staff, encourage them to seek their passion and help them grow in the workplace. Be good in your office but be firm in making decisions. You should be good at anything. Do what is right. Be honest. Be trustworthy for God will reward you in His perfect time,โ said Maโam Toledo to the attendees.
The afternoon sessions ensued with talks about the Certification of Non-Current Records by the Board of Secretary and RMIC member Maโam Nelly Cabual and on the Retrieval of Files and Freedom of Information Orientation by Maโam Toledo.
The submission of accomplished forms marked the end of the two-day seminar.
RMIC members Assistant Professor Maโam Bella D. Supe and Guidance Counselor III Mrs. Sune B. Quintab also actively manifested their support throughout the event.
