CPSU reaps three prestigious awards as 'Special Green School Top Notcher' and 'Outstanding in Biodiversity Conservation' at the 2023 Ecoluminaries Environmental Awards by PEMO
CPSU’s unwavering dedication to environmental preservation, protection, and biodiversity conservation, has once again underscored the significance of its initiatives as it recently garnered three (3) well-deserved recognitions during the 2023 Ecoluminaries: Abanse Negrense Environmental Awards organized by the Province of Negros Occidental Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) last December 5, 2023, at the Central Hall, Ayala Malls Capitol Central, Bacolod City.
Among the prestigious titles secured by CPSU were the "Special Green School Top Notcher" from the Negros Occidental Governor’s Conservation Achievement Award (NOGCAA), the “Green School Award Top Notcher,” and the "Outstanding in Biodiversity Conservation" awards, which not only validated the University's persistent efforts but also reinforce its pivotal role in advancing sustainability and environmental stewardship.
Dr. Aladino Moraca, CPSU president and the principal catalyst of the University’s green programs, stated that the said recognition not only reaffirms the importance of the institution's ongoing initiatives but also highlights its pivotal role in championing sustainability and environmental stewardship.
The said accolades also came with cash prizes worth Php15,000 for the “Special Green School Award,” another Php15,000 for being the “Green School Award Top Notcher,” and Php 5,000 as the “Outstanding in Biodiversity Conservation.” The commendation specifically identified the University as the best-performing school in environmental governance.
Dr. Angelie Rose Lumba, Director for Research and Development, together with For. Dominic Billen, Director for Environment Management System (EMS), the heads and hands behind the packaging of the presentation said that this award serves as a clear endorsement of CPSU's impactful contributions to creating a greener and more sustainable community with both local and global impacts.
Among those present to receive the awards were Dr. Lumba, For. Billen, and Engr. Maria Cristina Badajos, director for Planning and Development.
Other CPSU campuses that also received NOGCAA award Green School category were the Victorias campus, Hinoba-an Campus, and the Murcia and Valladolid Extension Classes.
