A P10 million-worth covered court is expected to rise soon in Central Philippines State University - Main Campus, through Resolution No. 066, s. 2019, as unveiled in the projectโs Groundbreaking Ceremony held last February 26 to elevate the holistic learning experience of the universityโs clientele.
The universityโs PMMO hosted the groundbreaking ceremony while Rev. Father Ritchie A. Villaflor led the blessing of the area dedicated to the construction of CPSU Main Covered court as well as the construction workers who will be working on the infrastructure.
Proposed by Director for Physical, Plant, and Facilities/General Services (GSO) and Former Faculty Regent Dr. Moody S. Deocares and will be overseen by the GSO, and the Project Management and Monitoring Office (PMMO) led by Engr. Eleuterio D. Mariรฑo III, the realization of the project will transpire after the endorsement of the Administrative Council headed by Dr. Aladino C. Moraca and Vice President for Finance and Administration Dr. Marc Alexei Caesar B. Badajos.
โI have dreamed that all the students will benefit from this covered court. I am really happy that the effort we exerted and the various means that we used to gain approval for this project have come to fruition. We know that the university celebrates or hosts various activities that are sometimes attended by its system-wide populace, requiring a venue that is capable of catering to a considerable crowd. I hope that the standards and the specifications for the parts of this construction will be followed thoroughly and that we will be able to reach the targets needed to accomplish the construction of the building to have the said capacity. Hopefully, by the soonest time possible, the structure will be available for utilization by Central Philippines State University stakeholders,โ said Dr. Deocares.
With P9 million allotted for the covered courtโs construction and another P1 million for its equipment, the covered court is set to rise through the revised budget as stated in Resolution No. 100 s. 2023.
โTo improve our sports programs and improve our standings in competitions, one solution that the university came up with is the improvement of our facilities, this covered court in particular. Students, please know and remember that the administration is dedicated to investing the universityโs hard-earned money on you. We are devoted to transparencyโthe transparent use of funds to create an impact on the lives of the universityโs clientele at present and in the generations to come,โ said Dr. Moraca in his inspirational message.
Many of CPSUโs officials, office heads, and campus administrators witnessed the groundbreaking ceremony and blessing not only of the future covered court but also of the Main Campusโ Student Hub building which is also under construction.
โWe urge you, students, to study well and complete your requirements for your programs. CPSU Main Campus programs are all now awarded with the Certificate of Program Compliance so do not take the privilege to be government scholars for granted. In my record, by the end of this academic year, there are an estimated 1500 number of students who will be graduating. There is a possibility that this covered court will be utilized for the graduation ceremony,โ expressed Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Fernando D. Abello in his closing remarks.
The proposal for CPSU Main Campus Covered Court was initially proposed in the year 2018 and was approved in the year 2019, with a revised budget as approved in the year 2023.
