7 Magna Cum Laude and 28 Cum Laude Latin distinctions conferred to graduands at the 20th Commencement Exercises of Central Philippines State University-Ilog Campus held this afternoon, June 16, 2025.
93 graduands across three bachelorโs programs, 44 from Bachelor of Elementary Education, 34 from Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness, and 15 from Bachelor of Science in Fisheries marched and were officially declared as graduates for Academic Year 2024-2025.
Department of Agriculture-Negros Island Regionโs Planning and Monitoring Division Chief, Sir Patrick C. Sta. Romana joined the graduates, parents, guardians, CPSU Ilog Campusโ faculty and staff, as the commencement speaker, in the solemn graduation ceremony held at the convention hall of Zaycoland Resort and Hotel.
โEvery graduate is embarking on a new life, and this commencement ritual marks the official beginning of that life. Congratulations to all of you young professionals in achieving quality results while impressing and inspiring othersโฆ To the parents and guardians, salute for your hard work and sacrifices for these young professionals. May you continue to support them in all means. To the faculty and advisers, the knowledge and wisdom you instilled will be engraved in the hearts of these young professionals. In their minds and souls, you will be remembered and cherished,โ said Sir Sta. Romana.
Class Valedictorian, Magna Cum Laude Latin Distinction awardee, Shahanie Bee C. Garcia, highlighted the sacrifices of her parents in supporting her studies and recalled her financial struggles in pursuing her educationโresonating with her fellow graduates and their own untold stories of sacrifices and hard work.
Garcia added, โAfter the sleepless nights, countless sacrifices, silent cries and pressure, finally, I can say that I am the first degree holder in our family. Those burdens, challenges, uncertainties were condiments that helped me grow, learn, and made me strong and that took me to this momentous occasion. I am a testament to the power of dreams and the strength to pursue them because no dream is too big. To the class of 2025, I commend your effort, sacrifices, hard work, and determination. For four years you surpassed the challenges, silent battles, and academic years full of surprise quizzes, performance tasks, and presentations. Thank you for allowing yourself to continue, for not giving up, and thank God for bringing you in this victorious event.โ
CPSU key officials namely, Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), Dr. Grenny I. Jungco; Board Secretary V, Maโam Nelly N. Cabual; and CPSU Alumni Regent and CPSU Alumni President and Member of CPSU Board of Regents, Dr. Fernando D. Abello, who also led the 93 graduates in their alumni pledge, witnessed the momentous ceremony.
Confirming the graduating class on behalf of the University President, Dr. Aladino C. Moraca, Dr. Jungco, also conferred their diplomas and challenged the graduatesโinspiringly nudging them to pursue further academic development in his inspirational speech.
โTo our dear graduates, as you stand at the threshold of a new chapter, may you carry with you the values and lessons you have learned within the four corners of this institution. The value of service, the power of knowledge, and the heart for leadership. May you become agents of positive change in your communities, bringing pride not only to yourselves, but also to the institution that nurtured you. Parents and guardians eagerly spectated the pivotal awarding of diplomas that culminated years of undergraduate education and marked the monumental beginning of new chapters of the graduatesโ lives as alumni and professionals.
