Dormitory inaugurated at CPSU Moises Padilla Campus
The newly constructed ₽14,850,000-worth two-story Central Philippines State University - Dormitory at Moises Padilla was blessed and inaugurated last October 8.
Funded by Former Senate President, Hon. Senator Juan Miguel “Migz” F. Zubiri and initiated by Negros Occidental 5th District Congressional Representative, Congressman Atty. Emilio Bernardino “Dino” L. Yulo, the building was erected to accommodate CPSU Moises Padilla students.
“We thank you, our benefactors, for your unwavering support and contribution to the advancement of our institution, their dedication to improving the lives of our students will forever be remembered. This dormitory stands as a symbol of progress, not only by providing safe and comfortable spaces for our students but also by empowering them to pursue their dreams without worrying about their accommodation,” said Campus Administrator, Dr. Rosemie G. Gequillana in her welcome remarks.
The University’s Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), Dr. Fernando D. Abello, and Physical Plant Management and General Service Office (PPMGSO) Director, Dr. Moody S. Deocares attended the occasion with guests, Congressman Yulo represented by his son and former Chief of Staff, Mr. Miguel Angelo G. Yulo, Moises Padilla Mayor, Hon. Ella Celestina D. Garcia-Yulo, DPWH Negros Occidental 2ndEngineering Office, District Engineer-ASEAN Engineer, Engr. Marivic M. Roldan represented by Construction Section Chief, Engr. Marjorie G. Diño.
The duplex-style dormitory will accommodate male and female boarders in separate quarters; person-with-disability boarders were also considered as PWD-friendly rooms and comfort rooms are allocated for their use and convenience on the first floor of the dormitory.
With CPSU Moises Padilla's students living in far-flung and isolated areas with financial challenges, underprivileged students are determined as priority beneficiaries for the project, which addresses the students’ financial strains from paying for their accommodations and transportation.
Magallon Evangelical Church’s Pastor Crisente Racca led the blessing of the dormitory through a prayer of dedication and by the anointing of oil.
“This building does not simply stand as a shelter for you, but this signifies our common commitment towards education. As you all know, our academic learning resources are essential in honing students not only academically but also holistically especially in promoting their health and well-being…I thank our benefactors, and I also thank Pastor Racca for anointing the building as I believe that we should maintain a steadfast communication with God for the welfare of our dear students,” said VPAA Abello in his inspirational message on behalf of CPSU President, Dr. Aladino C. Moraca.
The students, faculty, staff, and guests from Moises Padilla’s Local Government Unit witnessed the ceremonial project marker unveiling and ribbon cutting.
