The Research Ethics & Technical Writing for Publication program of Central Philippines State University concluded fruitfully, engaging research coordinators and academics from all campuses and extension classes.

Held from November 19 to 21, 2025, the workshop featured esteemed research experts: Dr. Dennis V. Madrigal, Dean of the University of Negros Occidental – Recolettos Graduate School, and Dr. Anabelle D. Magbanua of the University of St. La Salle Graduate School.

They discussed relevant issues and essential practices to elevate the university’s research culture and to support the formation of the CPSU Research Ethics Committee.

Dr. Madrigal delivered three lectures addressing emerging areas and critical concerns: “Autopsy of Rejected Papers”, “Anatomy of Well-Written Published Papers”, and “The Peer Review Process: Submission, Revision, and Publication.”

Dr. Magbanua, meanwhile, presented essential guidelines and vital concepts in her lectures: “Review of Research Ethics Principles/Guidelines”, “Review Process/Types of Review”, and “Standard Operating Procedures of the Ethics Committee.”

The participating Cenphilian research coordinators and academics engaged in a workshop on Ethics Review Assessment Standards and collaborated actively during group activities.

The three-day workshop concluded with the presentation of group outputs based on the ethics review of the teams’ assigned research proposals.

The event was spearheaded by the CPSU Research and Development Services Office, led by Director Dr. Angelie Rose L. Lumba, in partnership with the CPSU Graduate School, headed by Dean Prof. Riza Stephanie A. Alfaras, Ph.D.

According to Dr. Lumba, the forthcoming announcement of the university’s ethics committee members will mark one of the initial outcomes of the workshop, underscoring its significance in strengthening CPSU’s research culture.
