When asked about his expectations for the output from the workshop, President Limson replied, “Well, I am looking at a very responsive and relevant curriculum which would really address the needs of the community considering a lot of challenges, a lot of changes—fast changes at that. So, we need to keep ourselves updated and ensure that our curriculum would be responsive and relevant to the needs of the situation, needs of the community, and needs of the country.”
To ensure the alignment of intended learning outcomes and the quality of the faculty-made syllabi, the Curriculum Planning and Development Office headed by Dr. Eleanor F. Castro organized the second phase of the workshop, succeeding its first phase, the Crafting of the Institutional Program Intended Learning Outcomes.
Overseen by NORSU’s training team, the workshop included sessions for “Constructing the Basic Curriculum Audit Map”, “Vertical and Horizontal Constructive Alignment”, “Crafting the Course Description and Learning Outcomes”, and “Designing the COBEdized Syllabus” with the presentation of the outputs ensuing after.
When asked about something that he’d like to challenge the participants with, President Limson answered, “What I can say is for the participants to really be serious on revisiting their respective curricula. In fact, agriculture before was the flagship of many state universities and colleges in the country but today, it’s somewhat like being set aside because of some other priorities. So, we need to revisit all of these because if we say that we are an agricultural country, agricultural courses should be the backbone of the agricultural industry and of this country.”
Along with CPSU’s Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Fernando D. Abello, the Quality Assurance Office Director, Dr. Grenny I. Jungco and Internal Audit Office Head, Ms. Joannie Magbanua were also present in the event.
