COUNSELLING AND GUIDANCE
Goals and Objectives
To assist the student achieve their maximum potential developing self- awareness and self-realization
To make available channels in optimizing the student’s capabilities for achievements.
To assist the student in making satisfactory adjustment in the College and in reaching responsible decisions in academic , personal and social areas of their lives.
The Counselling and Guidance unit is being managed by the incumbent Guidance Counsellor together with the faculty member designated as assistant guidance counsellors.
The unit offers a wide variety of services for individual students to achieve self-awareness, self-understanding, self-acceptance, self-direction and self-actualization. Likewise, it offers the following services for student such as:
Individual Inventory – serves as the 201 file of the student which includes records of admission, psychological test taken, counselling visits, and other pertinent information about students.
Information – provides an update array of educational, vocational, and personal-social materials which can be useful to the students as in the conduct of some seminars, workshop, or job fairs.
Counselling – conducted either individually or in groups on topics ranging from personal to career concerns. Confidentially in counselling is very important
Psychological Testing and Evaluation – given to student who may be in need of such and whose evaluation may be an aid or a tool in the helping process.
Referral – cases which are considered beyond the scope of expertise of the office are referred to more experienced and competent professionals as part of helping process.
Follow-up – continuing service to the student include a follow-up of the process case.
Career Development Employment Service – to provide employment counselling to graduating students; to make available to become more disciplined and responsible future citizen of work/labor force through values development activities and other related pre-employment activities. Under this service, the Guidance Counsellor performs the following duties and responsibilities:
· Assist student in their career discovery;
· Conducts career counselling/advising;
· Conducts job fair;
· Provides internet skills; and
· Initiates programs and training or career orientation to graduating students at least before the end of the school year.
Furthermore, information about a student is not given without the written permission, excepts in case of imminent danger to self or other, child or adult abuse, court order or otherwise required by law.
