LIBRARY

 

Goals and Objectives

 

  •   To complement classroom instruction by making available a wide array of reading materials to the students and faculty alike.

  •  To provide a place for study and research apart from the usual classroom and shop/laboratory setting.

  • To provide an opportunity for the students to learn through the us of the internet facilities of the College.

Personnel

 

          The College Librarian closely coordinates with the Dean for Student Affairs and the different School Deans in determining the book needs of the students.

          Several assistant librarians are assigned n the Library of the College to render service to the students and faculty members alike.

          A Computer Specialist takes charge of the Internet Facilities of the College housed at the University Library.

Services

 

  •  Makes textbooks, reference books, interest and hobby books, magazines and other periodicals available at the Library of the College.

  • Manages a Computer Center, which is made available to students and faculty members who wish to make use of the internet as an educational tool.

  •  Updates the collection of the library  by inquiring from the faculty their needed books and other materials.

  • Facilitates the procurement of new collections

  •  Scouts for possible donors of books and other materials.

  •  Offers other audio-visual materials relevant to classroom activities.

  • Library Hours of Services

Monday-Friday  ---   7:30 A.M – 12:00 NN

                         ---   1:30 P.M – 6:00 P.M

Saturday          ---   8:00 A.M – 12:00 NN

                         ---   1:00 P.M – 5:00 P.M

 

Eligible Borrowers

 

  • Graduate and College students who are currently enrolled at NSCA with validated Library I.D. Card.

  • Laboratory High School Students with validated School I.D.

  • Faculty and Staff of NSCA and its extension campus constituents.

  • Alumni and visiting researchers (The School Librarian will issue them a special borrowers card with service fee.)

Library Card Application

 

  • Present the current registration from to the Librarian.

  • Fill up the application forms.

  • Come back on the date specified and claim borrower’s card by presenting your registration from again.

Use of the Library Facilities

  • All students wishing to use the facilities  and resources of the library are required to present to validated library card.

  • For faculty and administrative personnel, the College I.D. should be presented upon entry.

  • Researchers coming from outside of NSCA are required to present a referral letter from the institution of origin and a researcher’s fee has to be paid. The fee is fixed at a price determined by the Board of Trustees.

Borrowing Procedure

  • Secure a Loan Card from the Librarian by presenting validated Library I.D. Card (for old students) and Student’s Copy (for new students who applied for renewal of L.C.)

  • Check the availability of needed references in the bookshelves.

  • Fill up the Loan Card completely. A maximum of three titles at a time is allowed for loaning.

  •  

Loan Periods

  • General reading books called “home reading” in all students could be circulated for three days, with privilege for renewal.

  • Old theses book could be circulated for one week, with privilege for renewal. New theses books will be used in theses section only.

  • Reserved and Filipiniana books are to be used only in the library. Certain reserved and Filipiniana books maybe borrowed overnight 15 minutes before the library closes in the afternoon.¨     These books must be returned in the first hour as soon as the library opens the following day.

  • Reference books, serials, vertical files and newspapers are under no circumstances to be taken out of the library.

Returns

  • All books borrowed from the library must be retuned on time at the charging and discharging counter.

 

Fines and Penalties

  • A PhP 5.00 fine is assessed for each day, that a circulating or home reading book is overdue.

  • PhP 2.00/day for overdue thesis book.

  • PhP 2.00/hour for overdue reserve book and those taken out for duplicating purposes.

  • All fines or penalties must be supported by official receipt. Note: the borrower is responsible for the book he signs out. There is no obligation on the part if the library to send an overdue notice.

  • Any one caught stealing the books and other library materials will be suspended from the library privileges for the rest of the semester and the case will be referred to the Student Discipline of the Office of Student Affairs.

  • PhP 5.00/page will be fined for those caught mutilating books and periodicals, and be suspended from library privileges for the rest of the semester and the case will be referred to the Student Discipline of the Office of Student Affairs.

  • Vandalizing library furniture and other properties will be penalized by cancellation of library privileges for the rest of the semester and the case will be referred to the Student Discipline of the Office of Student Affairs.

  • Forging Librarian’s signature will be penalized by cancellation of library privileges for the following semester and the case will be referred to the Student Discipline of the Office of Student Affairs.


Lost Books and Library I.D. Card

  • Lost books must be reported to the librarian at once. The fine on an overdue book will stop at the time it is reported lost. A replacement copy of the same title and edition is due for any lost book. A processing fee of P20.00 will also be charged.

  • Lost Library I.D. must be reported immediately and replacement will be issued upon payment for the Cashier. A processing fee will be charged.

First Offense        - P10.00

Second Offense   - P20.00

Third Offense      - P30.00 and cancellation of library privileges

  •   All fees/fines must be supported by official receipt.

 

Behavior in the Library

Compulsory to all stakeholders, everbody must:

  • Read and work silently. Talk softly when needed.

  • Do not disturb others who are seriously reading.

  • Eating or drinking inside the library is strictly prohibited.

  • Take off all head coverings when coming inside the library.

  • Take care of the books and any materials borrowed.

  • Instructor/teacher should accompany his/her students inside the library when doing a group research.

  • Use of Viewing Room.

  • Instructors should arrange schedule of viewing with the librarian.
